Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Rupa Porob, MSN, PMH-NP

Rupa Porob is a compassionate psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of hospital-based clinical experience, including over 12 years dedicated to mental health care. She believes effective treatment begins with a trusting therapeutic relationship in which individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in their care.

Rupa provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment and individualized medication management for clients ages 8 and older, serving school-aged children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults. She works with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety and panic disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), adjustment disorders, and alcohol and other substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health and addiction concerns.

Her clinical background includes psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention, and stabilization support for individuals facing acute mental health challenges. Through her experience working with multidisciplinary teams, Rupa brings a collaborative, safety-focused perspective to treatment, supporting continuity of care and each client’s long-term recovery goals.

Grounded in empathy and evidence-based practice, Rupa takes time to understand each person’s symptoms, strengths, life circumstances, and treatment preferences. She emphasizes open communication, education, and shared decision-making, helping clients understand their treatment options and feel confident in their care. Her goal is to support symptom management, strengthen resilience, and improve daily functioning and overall quality of life.

Rupa received the Long-Term Care Award from UPMC Susquehanna in 2017 and has earned 13 DAISY Award nominations. Her additional training and certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and telemetry.

Outside of her clinical work, Rupa enjoys hiking, listening to music, and reading science fiction. She values lifelong learning and the opportunities for connection, creativity, and reflection found in everyday life.
