Graduate Intern
Lauren Glaze

Lauren Glaze is a graduate intern in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Eastern Mennonite University, where she is also completing a certificate in Conflict Transformation. She is passionate about creating a warm, affirming, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel safe showing up as their authentic selves. Lauren believes that healing does not have to happen in isolation and values the power of supportive relationships, meaningful connection, and compassionate self-understanding throughout the therapeutic process.

Lauren approaches mental health through a holistic and culturally responsive lens, recognizing that emotional well-being is influenced not only by individual experiences, but also by relationships, family systems, communities, identity, and the broader social environments in which people live. She believes healing can be strengthened through restorative connection with oneself, others, community, and the natural world.

Lauren works with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults who may be navigating neurodivergence, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, attachment concerns, grief and loss, family or relationship challenges, identity development, self-esteem, school and work stress, life transitions, chronic medical conditions, caregiver stress, sexuality, spiritual exploration, and end-of-life concerns. She has a particular interest in supporting individuals who may feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them.

Her therapeutic style is person-centered, collaborative, strengths-based, and client-led. Lauren strives to meet each client where they are while helping them better understand how past experiences, relationships, emotions, and nervous-system responses may be influencing their present-day lives. Depending on each client's developmental needs, goals, and preferences, she may thoughtfully integrate evidence-informed approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems-informed interventions, Motivational Interviewing, Existential Therapy, mindfulness-based practices, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, expressive arts, play-based interventions, and somatic techniques. Her goal is to help clients develop greater insight, emotional awareness, coping skills, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of agency as they move toward meaningful and sustainable change.

As part of her clinical training, Lauren completed her Spring 2026 practicum at Hospice of the Piedmont, where she gained experience supporting individuals and families navigating grief, loss, caregiving, serious illness, and end-of-life transitions. She is also ADS Certified and has practiced at Blue Ridge Center through Region Ten. In addition, Lauren has completed ASIST Suicide Prevention Training and holds QMHP-T credentials. These experiences contribute to her compassionate, safety-conscious, and trauma-informed approach to client care.

Outside of the counseling space, Lauren enjoys hiking, creating art, gardening, and participating in community events. She is also an EMT and volunteers when opportunities allow. Her commitment to service extends beyond her clinical work, and she cares deeply about helping build communities that are inclusive, life-giving, connected, and affirming.

Lauren welcomes clients across the lifespan, including preschool-age children, elementary and middle school students, adolescents, and young adults. Above all, she hopes clients experience therapy as a place where they can feel heard, respected, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences at their own pace while building a life that feels more connected, authentic, and fulfilling.
