Laura B. Nguyen, LCSW

Laura graduated with a BA in Psychology from George Mason University in 1996, where she also received a Psychology Technician Certification and was honored with the Jeanne C. Mellinger Award for outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service. She completed her MSW with a Clinical Concentration at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, in 2000. Laura received her Pupil Personnel Services License from the Virginia Department of Education issued in 2020 and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2021.

Laura's extensive experience spans various settings, including detox, hospitals, outpatient services, group and individual therapy. She has worked with at-risk and court-ordered youth in residential facilities, providing counseling and crisis intervention. She also has over six years of experience as a School Social Worker, with an additional eleven years in education and business, focusing on special education and enrichment programs.

Laura specializes in working with children, couples, and families, addressing issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, grief, loss, relationships, and life transitions. Her therapeutic approach is holistic and eclectic, integrating elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psychodynamic, family systems, and art and play therapy to meet the unique needs of each client.

Laura believes that everyone has the strength to overcome life's challenges, and she is dedicated to providing a safe, affirming space for clients to explore and grow. Her commitment to fostering emotional well-being is reflected in her own continuous journey of self-discovery and professional development.

Outside of her professional life, Laura is married with two young adult children. She is a pet mom to a rescued Pitbull named Remi and a cat named Raven. She enjoys taking long walks, building jigsaw puzzles, and playing board games with her family.
