With a comprehensive educational background, including a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College, a Master of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University, she has refined her expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy and Integrative approaches. These encompass cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered, psychodynamic, supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, behavioral activation, and solution-focused brief therapy. Jo-Ann's professional journey is further distinguished by a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.

With over 17 years of diverse experience spanning outpatient and in-home counseling, school guidance counseling, and case management, Jo-Ann has developed a nuanced understanding of varied client needs, specializing in anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, and couples counseling across a broad age spectrum from children aged 12 to older adults. She excels in building strong rapport with clients, employing culturally sensitive approaches, and structuring effective short-term treatment plans, functioning adeptly as both an independent clinician and a collaborative team member.

Jo-Ann's practice is characterized by her appreciation of client diversity and the challenges inherent in her role as a resident in counseling. Leveraging this experience, she provides support and counseling services related to the stresses of frequent relocation, changing schools, deployment, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Fluent in English and Tagalog/Filipino, Jo-Ann brings a culturally sensitive perspective to her counseling sessions, enhancing her effectiveness as a mental health professional.

Outside her professional commitments, Jo-Ann enjoys quiet weekends cooking and watching travel shows, adding depth to her compassionate and multifaceted professional life.
